Kenora students aid education in Guatemala
Education is a powerful tool that can transform lives and communities. Recognizing the importance of education and the impact it can have on the lives of students in Guatemala, the students of St. Thomas Aquinas (TA) in Kenora have come together through their Interact Club to support this cause. Their dedication and philanthropic spirit have resulted in a generous donation to the Kenora Rotary Club's Ripple Effect Committee, ensuring that more students in Guatemala have the opportunity to attend school and create a better future for themselves.
The Ripple Effect Scholarship Program, facilitated by Rotary, plays a significant role in providing educational opportunities to students in Guatemala. Since its inception in 1999, this program has been instrumental in building and refurbishing 85 schools, benefiting over 25,000 students. Through this program, students who would otherwise not have access to education are given the chance to learn, grow, and break the cycle of poverty.
TA's Interact Club, a passionate and dedicated student philanthropic group, has taken up the cause of supporting education in Guatemala. They understand the transformative power of education and believe that every child deserves the opportunity to learn and pursue their dreams.
Earlier this month, the Interact Club presented Gord LeMaistre, the Chair of the Kenora Rotary Club's Ripple Effect Committee, with a generous donation of $650. This donation will help 43 students attend school between 2023 and 2025. The commitment and generosity displayed by these students are truly remarkable.
By supporting education in Guatemala, the students of St. Thomas Aquinas are empowering their counterparts across the globe. They recognize that education is not just a privilege but a fundamental right that should be accessible to all. Through their donation, they are helping to create a ripple effect that will positively impact the lives of these students and their communities for years to come.
Education is a catalyst for change. It equips individuals with the knowledge, skills, and confidence they need to create a brighter future. When students support education initiatives like the Ripple Effect Scholarship Program, they are actively participating in the betterment of society and fostering a sense of global citizenship.
