Kuwaiti companies called upon to expand their investments in Algeria

The Minister of Finance, Abderrahmane Raouya, invited, on Tuesday in Algiers, Kuwaiti companies to broaden their investments to encompass the various productive sectors, like agriculture and the pharmaceutical industry.

The minister's statements come on the sidelines of the inauguration ceremony of the new head office of Algeria Gulf Bank (AGB) located in El-Biar (Algiers), which he chaired together with the president of the Kuwaiti investment company " Kamco" and member of the Board of Directors of Kuwait Investment Projects Holding "Kipco", Sheikh Abdullah Nasser Sabah Al-Ahmed Al-Sabah and the delegation he leads.

During these discussions with Sheikh Abdullah Nasser Sabah Al-Ahmed Al-Sabah, the Minister mentioned the expansion of Kuwaiti investments in Algeria which are currently limited to the fields of banking and insurance.

According to the Minister, Algeria encourages investments in other areas contributing to its economic growth, such as agriculture and the pharmaceutical industry.

The Minister of Finance and the Kuwaiti delegation also presided over the inauguration ceremony of a roundabout, adorned with a fountain, located in front of the tower (AGB), named after the former Emir of Kuwait, Sheikh Sabah Al-Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah.

On this occasion, Mr. Raouya recalled the "solid, historical and fraternal" relations linking Algeria to Kuwait.

For his part, the Kuwaiti ambassador to Algiers, Mohamed Echabou, highlighted the "exceptional" political relations between the two countries, which were confirmed by the visit of the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune to Kuwait at the end of February. last.

Kuwait aspires to maintain the momentum of its political relations, in addition to outstanding economic, investment and trade relations, he said.

The roundabout facing the new headquarters of the "AGB" bank, named after the former Emir of Kuwait, Sheikh Sabah Al-Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, comes in recognition of his role during the War of liberation of Algeria, having been the chairman of the fundraising committee for the benefit of the mujahideen.
