Law to regulate social networks proposes that Facebook and Twitter open offices in the country
Juan Carlos Alemán, deputy of the National Assembly elected in 2020, affirmed that the organization is working on a Social Networks Law, which proposes that Facebook and Twitter have offices in Venezuela .
He pointed out that these hypothetical venues will function to channel user claims. "There are things like the big social media platforms don't have an office in the country ," she said.
“What happens when I go to make a claim to Facebook, Instagram or Twitter if they don't have offices? One of the things that the law proposes is that they must have a representation office for claims ,” Alemán told journalist Michel Caballero.

The Chavista leader affirmed that the organization is already working on this Law of Social Networks . However, he did not provide details on when it will be presented to the floor and how far along the legislation is.

On the other hand, he assured that the objective of the law is to "regulate" the use of social networks in Venezuela. Thus, he argued that users will have to take responsibility for what they post on the platforms.
“What we have determined is to control, or rather, make legislation that regulates the use of social networks. It does not mean control. You are responsible for what you say, but you must have a regulation ” added Alemán. Read More…
