Lithuanian Publishers Association Elects New Head
The Lithuanian Publishers Association (LLA) has announced the appointment of Dovilė Zaidė as its new head, following the resignation of Lolita Varanavičienė, who led the organization for many years. Zaidė, who previously served as the director of the Alma littera publishing house, expressed her enthusiasm for taking on this significant role.
“Leading the Lithuanian Publishers Association is a great responsibility and, at the same time, a unique opportunity to implement crucial projects in the field of book publishing,” Zaidė stated. She emphasized the strength of the publishers’ community and the importance of strategic partnerships in expanding the role of literature in society. “Books can be not only a space of peace but also a source of inspiration, the shaping of patriotism, and the struggle for ideals,” she added.
Zaidė highlighted the necessity of uniting efforts and collaborating on common goals to foster the development of the book publishing industry. She expressed her readiness to share her experience and support her colleagues in implementing large-scale initiatives that benefit the sector.
Strategic partnerships, according to Zaidė, are vital for the growth of the book industry. She called for active cooperation among publishers and stakeholders, noting that the association has a crucial mission to represent the interests of Lithuanian publishers on the international stage.
“The Lithuanian Publishers Association manages important projects such as the Vilnius Book Fair, Lietuva skaito, the Book Square during the Capital Days festival, and the Book Awards. All these initiatives require constant development, strengthening, and expansion of cooperation with new partners. People who love and read books are of great importance for us,” Zaidė remarked.
The Lithuanian Publishers Association is an independent organization that unites 56 publishing houses. Its mission is to promote book publishing, protect the interests of publishers, and foster a culture of literature and reading both in Lithuania and internationally. With Zaidė at the helm, the association aims to continue its vital work in enhancing the literary landscape of the country.
