Of course, Romania has many more other beautiful places that are not so famous but this page is about the main tourist attractions in Romania.
Bran Castle and the surroundings
Bran Castle, also known as Dracula Castle, is maybe the most famous castle in Romania and well known all over the world. It is famous for its connection with Dracula. Actually, it is often erroneously referred to as the home of the title character in Bram Stoker’s Dracula. The castle is now a museum dedicated to displaying art and furniture collected by Queen Marie. Tourists can see the interior on their own or through a guided tour. Bran Castle is located in Brasov county between Piatra Craiului mountains and Bucegi mountains. The mountain villages around the castle are very picturesque and we offer guided hiking tours along them.
Transylvania region
Transylvania is the central historical region of Romania and it is very famous for its medieval cities and towns (Cluj Napoca, Sibiu, Brașov, Târgu Mureș, Alba Iulia, Sighișoara) and for its authentic villages that still keep their customs (Biertan, Viscri, Alma Vii etc). Other must-see places in Transylvania: Bran Castle, Râșnov fortress, Biertan fortified church, Turda salt mine and Turda Gorge, Poiana Brașov ski resort.
Transfagarasan
Transfagarasan is the famous mountain road in Romania that crosses Fagaras Mountains. It starts from the village of Bascov, near Pitești, and stretches 90 kilometres to the crossroad between the DN1 and Sibiu, between the highest peaks in the country, Moldoveanu and Negoiu. Transfagarasan was built in the 1970s as a strategic military route and it connects Transylvania to the sounthern side of Romania. At its highes point, there is Balea Lake and a few huts – this is the starting point for many hiking routes in Fagaras mountains.
Peles Castle
Peleș Castle is maybe the most beautiful castle in Romania. It is a Neo-Renaissance castle in the Carpathian Mountains, near Sinaia, in Prahova County, built between 1873 and 1914 for King Carol I. You can visit the yard for free but you have to pay an entry fee for the indoors, which are spectacular. Behind the castle there is a forest path (that used to be the secret path of fhe kings) which takes you to Stâna Regală – a beautiful place with a great view over the mountains and over Prahova Valley.
