Manchester City's Real Madrid transfer target Sergio Aguero insists he is happy to stay put

Sergio Aguero says he will snub Real Madrid because he can fulfil his Champions League dreams with current club Manchester City.

Real are tracking Aguero and their president Florentino Perez would love to take the Argentinian, who used to play for city rivals Atletico, back to Spain as their next Galactico.

But striker Aguero, the Premier League's top scorer last season, has said: “The only reason a player should leave a club is to achieve things, and I can achieve all I want to at City.”

The 27-year-old, currently on Copa America duty in Chile, agreed a five-year deal worth £200,000-a-week last August and insists he is happy at the Etihad.

His dream is to win the Champions League - and he believes he can do that with the Blues.

“I can’t stop rumours. I can’t stop people writing things,” he said. “But what I can do is repeat what I have already said, and that is that I’m very happy at Manchester City.

“I have had success over the last four seasons there and I’m hungry for a lot more.

“Of course the Premier League is a big priority and we want to win it back, but it is a big dream to win the Champions League at City as well.”

Aguero is confident the Abu Dhabi-bankrolled Blues will make some world-class signings this summer, with a £150million spree planned - but knows his pal and Argentna teammate Lionel Messi will not be one of them.

“Each summer, City will add some of the best players in the world to the team,” he said. “That is the way of the clubs who want to win titles. I’m sure that this summer will be the same.

“I would have loved City to sign Leo. He is my good friend and the best in the world, but his loyalty is so firm to Barcelona and you have to respect that.”

Aguero’s willingness to remain in Manchester could hasten Edin Dzeko’s exit.

The Bosnia & Herzegovina World Cup striker is considering a move to Italian side Roma because he made just 11 Premier League starts last season.

City would listen to bids for Dzeko and have already offered him to Liverpool as a potential makeweight in a deal for Raheem Sterling.
