Manhiça builds wholesale market
The municipal town of Manhiça, in Maputo province, is building an entirely new wholesale market with funds from the municipal council, with a view to boosting the sale of meat, vegetables and fruit, among other products. The infrastructure is budgeted at more than 7.5 million meticais.
The initiative, according to the Manhiça Municipality extension technician, Fernando Xirindza, will help commodify a larger percentage of local production, which sometimes deteriorates due to lack of a market, especially at harvest time.
“Right now, our wholesale market is under construction. This was one of the biggest challenges for farmers and other traders here in the municipality. The construction of this infrastructure, to be built with municipal council funds, will help diversify our product offering,” Xirindza said in an interview with AIM. Read More…
