Meta rolls out new Telegram-like feature on Instagram: What is it
Meta-owned photo-sharing platform Instagram keeps on adding features to improve user experience. The company has started rolling out a new feature which is already available on the Telegram messaging app. Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg has recently shared a post on Facebook to announce and explain the “new broadcast chat feature” on Instagram called “channels”. In the post, Zuckerberg also mentioned starting a channel to share news and updates on all the products and tech Meta is building. He will share updates about Meta products on this channel first.
Moreover, Meta will also add channels to Messenger and Facebook in the coming months, Zuckerberg added. Currently, the company is testing the latest Instagram feature with limited creators.
Instagram broadcast channels: What is it
Broadcast channels on Instagram will work very much like channels on Telegram. This feature will allow creators to stream updates to their followers’ inboxes. Users who join the channels will be able to react to messages and vote in polls. However, these users won’t be able to participate in the conversation directly.
For example, Mark Zuckerberg announced in his “Meta Channel” that he will be using the space to “share news and updates on all the products and tech” that Meta is building.
