Ministry Of Education Has Invested Over NT$6.6 Million To Improve Early Childhood Education
Taiwan’s Ministry of Education (MOE) has invested over NT$6.6 million (approximately US$205,806) over the past three years to enhance early childhood education, focusing on building collaborative teaching environments and improving educational quality.
As part of the initiative launched during the 2022 academic year, the MOE aims to foster cooperation among early childhood education institutions by forming learning communities. These networks encourage collaboration among educators through peer learning activities such as workshops, mentoring, and classroom observations. The program's objective is to enrich teaching practices, boost curriculum development, and improve the overall learning environment for children.
Several schools have reported positive results from the initiative. Taipei Municipal Binjiang Elementary School’s attached kindergarten has collaborated with other institutions on lesson planning and resource sharing, while simultaneously helping teachers sharpen their skills through mutual learning.
In Nantou, the kindergarten affiliated with Mingtan Elementary School also embraced this initiative. Teachers engaged in on-site mentoring and peer observation, which gave them more confidence in experimenting with and adjusting their curriculum. Director Lee Hui-ju (李惠如) praised the project's impact, noting how the cooperative framework has elevated both teaching standards and resource efficiency across participating schools.
This investment reflects Taiwan's continued efforts to strengthen early childhood education by fostering collaboration, innovation, and professional development among educators.
