Montreux Jazz Festival To Happen This July
The Montreux Jazz Festival is set to take place from July 5th to 20th, 2024, continuing a tradition that has spanned over 50 years. Situated in the prestigious Montreux in Canton Vaud, this festival is a renowned event in the music world, offering a stage where many world-famous musicians have delivered career-defining performances.
Despite its name, the festival transcends jazz, showcasing a wide array of genres including soul, blues, bebop, hip-hop, and more. It holds the distinction of being the second-largest jazz festival globally, following the Montreal Jazz Festival. Over the decades, legendary artists such as Nina Simone, Miles Davis, Aretha Franklin, Ella Fitzgerald, Marvin Gaye, Prince, Leonard Cohen, David Bowie, Elton John, and Stevie Wonder have graced its stages.
Montreux Jazz Festival is not just about the music; it offers an immersive experience set in the picturesque "Swiss Riviera." The city of Montreux, nestled between the French Alps and Lake Geneva and near the UNESCO-listed Lavaux vineyards, provides an extraordinary backdrop for the event. The beauty of the region often encourages both artists and audiences to extend their stay beyond the festival dates.
Tickets for the festival are available on the Montreux Jazz Festival website. Upon arrival, all tickets will be exchanged for a festival wristband. It is important to note that visitors under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
For those who wish to enjoy more world-class music in Montreux, don't miss the Septembre Musical Montreux-Vevey, which takes place each autumn.
