Moroccan Companies Enjoy Excellent Internet Activity
A new report by Morocco’s High Commission for Planning (HCP) has established that Moroccan companies enjoy excellent Internet connectivity with very high access rates.
HCP made the statement in a recent report on the state of information and communication technologies (ICT) integration at the companies’ level.
The HCP report, which explored the state of information and communications technologies (ICT) integration at Moroccan companies, noted that access rates for very small enterprises (VSEs) in Morocco reached 81%, 97.9% for small and medium enterprises (SMEs), and 99.5% for big enterprises (GE) in 2019.
The report also pointed out that 92% of Moroccan companies use the Internet primarily for email exchange. Other applications, such as document access and editing, are still uncommon, with only 38% of businesses using them. In addition, only 59% of the companies use specialized professional software.
HCP also reported that, at the corporate level, the integration of modern information technology is still incomplete in Morocco. In 2019, ICT integration was rated high in the management of activities by 36% of organizations, although it is still limited in their exchanges.
However, companies over 20 years old reported a higher integration of ICT in managing their interactions with suppliers, customers, and government compared to human resource management operations or business development.
The report further showed that companies' use of external IT services was also lower. In 2019, 20% of companies used this type of service for the storage of their information, while only 18% of them used it for the hosting of their databases.
The percentage of organizations who purchased IT services did not exceed 26% for financial management or accounting software and 16% for customer relationship management software, the report found.
Based on the results of two HCP surveys, the report highlighted the growing integration of ICT in the Moroccan corporate world. Read More…
