Morocco’s King inaugurates medical centre in Casablanca
King Mohammed VI of Morocco officially opened a Proximity Medical Centre (CMP) in the Dar Bouazza Commune's new town of Errahma, Casablanca on Monday. The project, funded by an overall investment of 73 million dirhams, is part of the Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity's ongoing effort to improve healthcare for underprivileged citizens and to ensure a comprehensive and sustainable human development.
As an intermediary facility between the basic healthcare network and the hospital network, the CMP - Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity will serve over 300,000 inhabitants of the new town of Errahma and the surrounding areas. The center offers 24/7 care and includes a pole of medical emergencies of proximity with emergency doctors who will ensure the guard in particular in the rooms of dechoquage, examination, care, observation, and plaster. Additionally, there is a specialized medical consultation unit (cardiology, ENT, gastroenterology, pediatrics, gynecology, ophthalmology), an orthopedics and functional rehabilitation unit, and a medico-technical pole with an operating room (a general surgery room and another for obstetric surgery), as well as a recovery room.
The center also includes a mother-child health center with a technical delivery unit and examination rooms, care, vaccination, and ultrasound. With the latest-generation equipment, the Centre also houses an oral care unit, a medical imaging unit (radiology, mammography, ultrasound, panoramic), a medical analysis laboratory, a hospitalization unit (13 double rooms) and another for sterilization, a pharmacy, an awareness room, a kitchen, and a morgue. The new hospital also has an ambulance to ensure the medical transport of patients.
The new Proximity Medical Centre will benefit almost 60,000 people annually and help relieve the pressure on existing hospital facilities in the region. Furthermore, it will avoid long trips for some poor patients that weigh heavily on their budget and their families.
This project is the result of a partnership between the Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity, the Ministry of Health and Social Protection, the Casablanca-Settat Regional Council, and the Provincial Council of Nouaceur. Like other centers inaugurated by King Mohammed VI in various regions of Morocco, the Proximity Medical Centre in Errahma is part of a comprehensive program conducted by the Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity aimed at supporting the national medical sector. The program's main goal is to strengthen the existing healthcare offer and set up a local healthcare network accessible to the population while integrating a complementary social approach into the mechanisms for supporting patients.
It reinforces the various actions carried out by the Foundation in the medical and humanitarian fields, and demonstrates its multi-faceted and diversified commitment to the well-being and prosperity of the poor.
