Nasreddine Nabi Commends Team, Sets Sights on Gallants Clash
Nasreddine Nabi, the coach of Young Africans, expressed his admiration for his team's performance in successfully defending their Premier League title. Meanwhile, Kasim Liogope, the Assistant Coach of Dodoma Jiji, lamented their lack of effectiveness in front of goal.
Yanga secured their league crown with a 4-2 victory over Dodoma Jiji at the Azam Complex in Dar es Salaam over the weekend, securing their 29th top-flight title. They will be officially presented with the trophy in Mbeya, where they have two remaining fixtures against Tanzania Prisons and Mbeya City at Sokoine Stadium to conclude the season.
Following the thrilling match, Nabi delivered a brief speech, praising his players, coaching staff, management, and fans for their unwavering support in their successful title defense. He acknowledged that although the focus was on the Dodoma Jiji match, the team's minds are now set on the upcoming CAF Confederation Cup match against Marumo Gallants in South Africa on Wednesday.
"We are fully focused on the tough game in South Africa, but we are prepared to compete against them," said Nabi, who treasures his second league trophy during his tenure at the club.
On the other hand, Liogope stated that his team managed to stifle Yanga in many areas during the match, but their inability to find the target accurately cost them. "Yanga is a formidable team with talented players, but we were able to contain them. Based on our performance, we deserved maximum points, but things did not go our way," he explained.
Liogope further revealed that the third goal they conceded completely disrupted their game plan, leading to the heavy defeat. He emphasized the importance of working hard in their remaining two matches and expressed his desire to collect six points in order to avoid the playoffs, highlighting their advantageous position to achieve that goal.
Similarly, Yanga striker Fiston Mayele expressed his determination to continue scoring goals in the remaining two matches, with the aim of increasing his current tally of 16 goals for the season. "We still have two matches to play, and I want to add more goals to my name. We have challenging away games against Tanzania Prisons and Mbeya City, and I'm eager to find the back of the net," he affirmed.
