Netherlands Stocks Higher at Close of Trade; AEX Up 0.40%
Dutch stocks closed higher on Tuesday, buoyed by gains in the Industrials, Real Estate, and Consumer Goods sectors. The AEX index in Amsterdam rose by 0.40% by the end of the trading session.
Leading the gains on the AEX was Adyen NV (AS:ADYEN), which saw an increase of 3.27%, or 49.20 points, closing at 1,552.80. Wolters Kluwer (AS:WLSNc) also performed well, adding 1.38% or 2.35 points to finish at 172.70. Prosus (AS:PRX) rose by 1.36%, or 0.48 points, closing at 35.87.
On the downside, BE Semiconductor Industries NV (AS:BESI) was the worst performer, falling 3.93% or 4.90 points to close at 119.90. ASM International NV (AS:ASMI) declined by 3.74%, or 20.00 points, ending at 515.00, while Akzo Nobel NV (AS:AKZO) saw a decrease of 0.86%, or 0.52 points, closing at 59.94.
Overall, rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange, with 72 stocks advancing compared to 25 that fell, while 11 remained unchanged. The AEX Volatility Index, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, remained stable at 21.09, showing no change.
In commodities, crude oil for March delivery dipped by 0.08%, or $0.06, to $73.11 per barrel. Brent oil for April delivery fell by 0.13%, or $0.10, to $76.08 per barrel. Meanwhile, April Gold Futures rose by 1.00%, or $27.61, trading at $2,793.81 per troy ounce.
In the currency markets, the EUR/USD pair decreased by 0.62% to 1.04, while the EUR/GBP remained relatively unchanged at 0.84. The US Dollar Index Futures rose by 0.57% to 107.77, reflecting a stronger dollar against a basket of currencies.
Overall, the trading session reflected positive sentiment in the Dutch stock market, with key sectors showing resilience amid fluctuating commodity prices and currency movements.
