New Vitamin C Range Targets Skincare Needs of Women of Colour

Skin by Zaron has launched a new Vitamin C range designed to address the unique skincare challenges faced by women of colour, specifically targeting concerns such as hyperpigmentation, uneven skin tone, and sensitivity to harsh formulations. The range was formally unveiled at a press conference in Lagos, aiming to provide tailored beauty solutions for melanin-rich skin, which is often underrepresented in the skincare industry.

During the event, representatives from Skin by Zaron shared insights into the rigorous formulation process behind the new products. They emphasized the use of high-quality ingredients, including Vitamin C, Vitamin E, castor oil, and collagen, combined with soothing agents to ensure that the products brighten and hydrate the skin without causing irritation.

The new range includes a cleanser, serum, moisturizer, and sunscreen, all designed to work in tandem to address common skin concerns while providing essential sun protection. This is particularly important for melanin-rich skin, which can be prone to pigmentation issues due to sun exposure.

Oke Maduewesi, the Founder and CEO of Zaron Cosmetics Limited, explained the inspiration behind the formulation of the range. She stated, “As the fastest-growing beauty brand in Africa, we pride ourselves on creating products for women of colour, by women of colour, who better understand their needs.” Maduewesi noted that the brand's shift to skincare was influenced by the COVID-19 pandemic, which spurred increased skin education and awareness. This led to extensive research over several years, involving tests conducted on actual Africans under similar conditions in Africa.

Addressing the historical context of skincare preferences in Nigeria, Maduewesi remarked, “A few years ago, many believed we would be out of business if we didn’t offer a bleaching range. However, our reputation does not support that,” reinforcing the brand's commitment to promoting natural beauty.

The introduction of the Vitamin C range further underscores Skin by Zaron’s dedication to inclusivity and its role in providing accessible, effective skincare solutions for women of colour in Africa. By focusing on the specific needs of this demographic, Skin by Zaron aims to empower women to embrace their natural skin tones while effectively addressing common skincare concerns.
