Nine New Zealand feature films to screen at NZIFF 2022

NZIFF has a long history of supporting New Zealand filmmakers and we're delighted to be able to present four world premiere screenings as part of this year's selection of homegrown films. We're still working to confirm more New Zealand films for the festival and we'll be announcing them in July when we announce the full programme. Enjoy this peek at what's to come for NZIFF 2022.
Featuring four dramas and five documentaries, the New Zealand films confirmed for NZIFF 2022 are rich in storytelling with themes of resilience, survival, and hope running deep in many of the titles.
Making their feature film directorial debuts are Nina Nawalowalo with A Boy Called Piano – The Story of Fa'amoana John Luafutu, and Welby Ings with Punch while three films – Shirley Horrock's Juliet Gerrard: Science in Dark Times, Florian Habicht's newly colourised version of Woodenhead, and planetarium audio-visual experience Path 99 – return from the NZIFF 2021 programme to have their Auckland premieres.
Veteran independent documentary-maker Costa Botes returns to the festival with the world premiere of observational documentary When the Cows Come Home, and also making its world premiere at the festival is Geoff Dixon – Portraits of Us. Read More…
