Morocco has made significant progress in infrastructure development, particularly highway construction.
Minister of Equipment and Water Nizar Baraka has said that Morocco has 1,800 kilometers of highway, which improves connectivity between regions and plays an important role in the country’s socio-economic development.
The minister made the statement on the sidelines of a plenary session of oral questions at the parliament earlier this week, reported Morocco’s news agency (MAP).
Baraka highlighted other various roads are being built to develop the highway network and the construction aligns with the government’s vision which aims to reduce territorial disparities.
The minister noted that construction is already underway on several roads, including tripling the size of the Tit Mellil-Berrechid freeway by 30 kilometers and expanding the Casablanca-Berrechid highway by over 20 kilometers.
In addition, he also stated that a 60 kilometer-long main highway will be built between Casablanca and Rabat to relieve traffic congestion.
