Oracle Unveils Its Inaugural Cloud Regional Center in Serbia
Oracle has recently introduced its latest cloud region in Serbia, aiming to meet the growing demands for cloud computing in both the private and public sectors of the country. This new establishment, named Oracle Cloud Jovanovac Region, serves as Oracle's premier cloud region in Southeast Europe. Situated in Kragujevac, the center is anticipated to foster business innovation across the region.
The introduction of Oracle Cloud Jovanovac Region presents Serbian enterprises with an opportunity to leverage the performance and security offered by Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI). Moreover, it will contribute to the advancement of critical industries such as healthcare, retail, and financial services within the region.
Kenneth Johansen, Senior Vice President of Cloud Technology for Oracle Northern and Eastern Europe, expressed, "Local organizations and public institutions are taking decisive actions to position Serbia as a technology-driven innovation hub. By inaugurating the Oracle Cloud Jovanovac Region, we are enabling our customers to harness the benefits of top-tier cloud technologies while ensuring robust security standards, availability, and low latency."
This new cloud region aligns with OCI's overarching distributed cloud strategy, providing clients with flexible performance, security, compliance, and operational models that cater to their specific needs and desired locations.
The official opening of the Oracle Cloud Jovanovac Region witnessed the presence of Serbia's Prime Minister, Ana Brnabić, and the Minister of Information and Telecommunications, Mihailo Jovanović, alongside other esteemed guests.
In conjunction with the launch of the new cloud region, Oracle entered into its first commercial contract with Telekom Srbija, designating them as the inaugural user of the public Oracle cloud infrastructure. Vladimir Lučić, CEO of Telekom Srbija, remarked, "As the leading telecom operator in the region, we are endorsing the first investment in a cloud data center by a global cloud service provider. By utilizing OCI, Telekom Srbija continues its digital transformation and modernization endeavors, granting us a competitive edge and enabling the development of new services in both the retail and enterprise market segments."
