Over 2 Million Users Embrace KakaoTalk's Silent Exit Feature
KakaoTalk, the leading mobile messenger in South Korea, has witnessed an overwhelming response to its recently introduced feature called "Leave Chat Room Quietly." This function has gained immense popularity among users since its launch a month ago.
Kakao Corp., the company behind KakaoTalk, reported that approximately 2 million users activated this new feature during the period of May 10-31, after it was made available on KakaoTalk Labs.
However, the tech giant clarified that the activation statistics for features in KakaoTalk Labs, the testing platform for new functionalities, are diverse and flexible, making it challenging to provide precise figures.
Users who have updated their KakaoTalk to the latest version now have the option to discreetly leave chat rooms by selecting the "Leave Chat Room Quietly" feature within KakaoTalk Labs.
When this option is chosen, a departure notification will not be shown to other participants, ensuring a seamless exit experience.
Kakao highlighted that this function serves to alleviate the stress faced by users who find themselves bothered by unnecessary messages or notifications in group chat rooms, particularly when the conversations become inactive or when they miss an opportunity to leave gracefully.
Notably, the feature has garnered positive feedback from various online communities that predominantly revolve around IT-related topics.
