A Parbatya Chattagram Jana Samhati Samiti (PCJSS) supporter was "shot dead" in Khagrachhari yesterday (September 19).
The news was confirmed to our Rangamati correspondent by PCJSS Thana committee's General Secretary Tridip Chakma.
The deceased was identified as Darpon Chakma from Naraichari. The incident took place yesterday morning at Naraichari area under Dighinala upazila around 10:30am.
Darpon Chakma was at local bazar when about nine people picked him up and took him to the shore of Maini river and shot him dead.
A senior member of PCJSS, unwilling to mention his name, told The Daily Star that Darpon was one of their activists and "he was always trying to influence the implementation of the CHT Peace Accord and that's why members of United people's democracy front (UPDF) shot him." Read More...
