Peanut marketing campaign: "SONACOS will not reach its collection targets this year" (Dg)
With only 16,000 tonnes of groundnuts collected at the national level halfway through the campaign, “Sonacos is not going to reach its collection targets this year”.
This is at least the provisional assessment drawn by Dg Modou Diagne at the end of his field visit made on February 6 to the intermediate recovery center of SONACOS in Dioulacolon on the outskirts of Kolda.
For the boss of Sonacaos, Kolda has been able to pull out of the game despite the difficulties with 5,500 tonnes collected to date. This tonnage makes Fouladou "the site where we found the largest quantity of seeds throughout the national territory". And, “This is the second time that Kolda has been in the lead at Sonacos,” he continues.
Hence the relevance of this strategy for setting up intermediate recovery centers which, in the opinion of Diagne Fada, must be strengthened to improve the collection performance of SONACOS, especially during difficult campaigns such as this year's, informs Diagne Fada.
