Phuket using street art to draw tourists to historic Old Town
Phuket is using street art to draw tourists to its historic Phuket Old Town. The colourful, vibrant mural art is a painting of a cute character and a Chinese-style dragon, as well as a painting of a boat and a sea turtle amidst Phuket’s buildings.
Phuket City Mayor Saroj Angkanapilart stated that the local government is prepared to welcome Chinese and other foreign tourists from around the world to explore the town and experience local tourism. Mayor Saroj told The Phuket Express…
“There are many landmarks in Phuket Old Town such as Surin Circle, Suriyadet Circle, Chartered Intersection and more. We have also decorated Phuket Old Town with street art to present local life and culture.”

The use of street art aims to attract more tourists to the area as it has become a popular trend for visitors to take photos with artistic backdrops.
