Police Intercept 133 Europe-Bound Irregular Migrants in Southern Morocco
Security services in the Dakhla-Oued Eddahab region in southern Morocco thwarted an irregular migration attempt in the coastal area of Imoutlane, 140 km from Dakhla.
During the operation, which took place on Saturday, the security services intercepted a total of 133 immigrants, including four women.
Two groups of 68 and 65 migrants were arrested in the north of the fishing village Imoutlane.
Authorities opened an investigation under the supervision of the Prosecutor’s office to identify the people behind the irregular migration operation.

The efforts are part of Morocco’s approach to tackling undocumented migration.
On March 25, the North African country hosted the first intergovernmental conference to discuss the implementation of the Global Compact for Migration and enhance global cooperation on issues related to migration and refugees.
Adopted in December 2018 in Marrakech, the Global Compact is the first inter-government agreement prepared under the auspices of the UN.
