Raven Duchess to drop 2 new singles
Raven Duchess is set to captivate audiences with the release of two new singles from her upcoming album, Indigo. The self-produced album features six tracks: Ndatetereka, Mayo, Zarurai Masango, Dziva re Njuzu, Chaminuka, and Sunshine Vibes. This month, she will debut the singles Dziva re Njuzu, a collaborative jazz-folk fusion piece featuring renowned guitarist and producer Louis Mhlanga, and Sunshine Vibes, which includes contributions from local hip-hop artists R Peels and Dough Major.
The complete album is expected to be available online in early December. Raven Duchess expressed her gratitude for Mhlanga's support, highlighting his contribution to the poetic interpretation of folklore surrounding mystical mermaid creatures in Dziva re Njuzu.
The inspiration behind Indigo draws from themes of wisdom and intuition, with the color indigo symbolizing tranquility and the mysteries of the universe. The album also incorporates traditional Zimbabwean musical elements, such as shakers and maracas. This marks her third album, following Ethno Vibes (2021) and Folklore (2023), with mixing and mastering by Boy Tricky and featuring jazz prodigy Josh Meck on bass for Chaminuka.
Raven Duchess, a Sofar Sounds Harare alumnus, has been actively performing at various music festivals, including The Music Imbizo Festival in Durban, South Africa, the Bayimba International Arts Festival in Uganda, and the Urban Music People Festival in Malawi, where she shared the stage with Malawian dancehall artist Chizmo Njuchi.
