Bleached eyebrows, fast glasses and chunky shoes : Raver outfits are trendy on Tiktok. Videos with the hashtag #raverfashion have almost 100 million views on the platform. In the clips, Tiktokers show their outfits for the next techno party.
The Berlin look is in demand
Gen-Z and millennials are increasingly interested in looks suited to late nights at nightclubs and big raves in warehouses. On Pinterest, too, users are specifically looking for outfits with which you could also gain entry to the Berlin techno club Berghain. The search term "Berlin Rave Mode" has seen an increase of 250 percent in the last two years. The term "house music outfits" skyrocketed by 185 percent during this period.
Most of the looks that appear under this search query are all in black and sometimes consist of patent leather and leather .
Lots of skin and even more accessories
According to Pinterest's trend report, people are looking for spaces where they can let go and dress how they want. Many of the raver looks on Tiktok feature bare skin on both women and men. Metal harnesses and necklaces are also often part of the outfit.
The accessories are often not just pure decoration: a fanny pack offers space for cards, mobile phone etc. and you have your hands free for dancing and drinks. A fan is also often part of the outfit for both men and women. Anyone who has ever been to a full club knows from personal experience how quickly a room with lots of dancing people heats up. A fan not only provides relief in summer.
Instead of high stilettos, most people opt for chunky boots for their rave outfit. So you dance pain-free until the early morning. As Tiktoker Mekchno shows, dancing in some boots can be quite painful. His trick? Bandage a blister plaster and then the foot.
Rave looks also in fashion collections
Rave looks are not only experiencing a moment on social media. Luxury labels like Balenciaga or Vetements also like to use the techno subculture for their designs. For Fall Winter 2023 and 2024, Vetements showcases looks you might find waiting in line at a techno club.
