Rebonding For Thin Hair: 5 Dos And Don'ts

Here are a few precautions you must ensure when thinking of getting your thin hair rebonded.

Textured hair looks beautiful but few people realise how much effort and time it takes to maintain it. This is why many individuals prefer to get their hair rebonded. This treatment not only straightens textured hair but also makes it smooth, shiny, and easy to manage. It also saves you time in the morning when you would otherwise be struggling with your tresses.

What Is Hair Rebonding?

Rebonding your hair is one of the most well-known treatments to straighten your hair. Rebonding creams can aid in the breakdown of proteins, resulting in straight, silky, and smooth hair. You may straighten your hair without problem after the connections in the hair are broken. This treatment is commonly prescribed for ladies who have frizzy, unmanageable hair.

Hair Rebonding For Thin Hair

Some people who choose hair rebonding realise that their hair retains some of its natural texture and is simply not as effective on them. If your hair is thin, dry, colour-treated, bleached, or heat-damaged, rebonding may cause damage rather than the intended effect. So here are a few things you must keep in mind before rebonding your thin hair.

Do: Adequate Nourishment

Regularly treat your hair with hot oil and hair masks to keep your hair well nourished. Hair rebonding can cause a lot of damage to your hair so it’s better to prep your hair beforehand.

Do: Take Your Time With Conditioning

Use a gentle shampoo designed specifically for your hair type. After washing your hair, apply conditioner and let it stay on for a few minutes to allow your hair to absorb the moisture.

Don't: Avoid Washing Your Hair With Hot Water

One key thing you should avoid at all times and not just before rebonding is to avoid using hot water as much as possible. If you feel that you should avoid hot water and instead use lukewarm water, you are mistaken! You should also avoid using lukewarm water and instead use just cold water. Using lukewarm or hot water can cause a lot of hair damage.

Don't: Steer Clear Of Hair Colouring

Consider chemical treatments as the devil's spawn for the six months after you rebond your hair. Hair colouring is to be avoided too. You don't want to over-process your hair, and six months is a fair period of time to give your hair TLC (tender loving care) instead.

Don’t: Forget To Trim

Hair rebonding causes damage, and damage causes split ends. Trims should be done every 6-8 weeks. This will maintain your hair health and avoid further damage from going up your hair's length. Read More...
