Roman Rafreider is back on the TV screen
Roman Rafreider, a well-known Austrian TV presenter, has recently returned to the screen. The ORF confirmed to Salzburger Nachrichten that the 54-year-old is now hosting two afternoon shows on ORF 2: "Aktuell nach eins" and "Aktuell nach fünf." Since the beginning of September 2022, Rafreider has been working as an editor for these programs and occasionally appears as a reporter, designer, and most recently, due to representation, as a moderator. His primary role on these shows is editor-in-chief, and he has also conducted several longer interviews in recent weeks and months.
The ORF press office did not provide details on whether Rafreider's increasing TV presence is indicative of further responsibilities. However, there are rumors of discussions regarding additional presenting roles for him.
Rafreider took a six-month break at the end of 2021 after presenting a "ZiB Flash" show while visibly impaired. On the same day, Martin Thür had to step in to present "ZiB Nacht," leading to the show's postponement. Rafreider attributed his impairment to learning about a family tragedy just before going on air. After his hiatus, he returned to work as an editor behind the camera.
