Romania Wins Five Gold Medals, One Silver at European Rowing Championship
The women's four rowing team from Romania, consisting of Madalina Beres, Maria Tivodariu, Magdalena Rusu, and Amalia Beres, achieved a remarkable feat by securing gold medals at the European Rowing Championships held in Bled, Slovenia, on Saturday.
The Romanian athletes displayed exceptional performance, completing the race in a commendable time of 06 minutes 22 seconds and 69/100. They emerged victorious in the final standings, closely followed by the United Kingdom with a timing of 06 minutes 23 seconds and 72/100, and the Netherlands, who finished with a time of 06 minutes 27 seconds and 10/100.
Impressively, Romania managed to qualify nine different crews for the A finals in Bled, with the men's pair team, composed of Marius Cozmiuc and Sergiu Bejan, securing their place in the final after achieving second place in the semi-finals held on Saturday.
In the A/B2 semi-final of the men's double sculls, the team consisting of Florin Arteni and Ciprian Tudosa performed admirably, finishing in 4th place. Although they narrowly missed out on a spot in the A Final, they will now compete in the B Final.
Another notable achievement came from the women's quadruple sculls team, featuring Ioana-Madalina Morosan, Andrada-Maria Morosanu, Cristina Druga, and Patricia Cires. They emerged victorious in the B Final on Saturday, securing an overall ranking of 7th place.
Romania proudly sent a total of 11 crews to participate in the European Championships held in Slovenia, showcasing their strong presence in the event.
It is worth mentioning that Romania's performance in the previous year's European Championships, held in Munich, was outstanding. The team concluded the competition with an impressive tally of five gold medals and three bronze medals, marking it as the most successful campaign in the history of Romanian rowing at the continental level.
