Sad reality: Only three movie theaters work in Mozambique
With the growth of streaming platforms, such as Netflix and Amazon Prime Video, the demand for movie theaters has been decreasing in recent years and worsened when COVID-19 began to ravage the world, because these spaces were forced to close and people They had to “stay at home”.
Now, the world is recovering from COVID-19 and things are back to normal, movie theaters and so many other leisure spaces have already reopened.
In Mozambique, the crisis in movie theaters is already very old and is not just about COVID-19, because several spaces closed their doors more than 10 years ago. For example, nowadays, the old and renowned cinema houses in the city of Maputo are in ruins or converted for other purposes.
At the beginning of 2021, Lusomundo, one of the spaces most loved by lovers of the seventh art, closed its activities due to COVID-19.
