Sanfic Industria to Bow New Lab Sections, Chilean Series Focus
The 12th iteration of Sanfic Industria, Chile's renowned event, is scheduled to commence on August 20, coinciding with the Santiago Film Festival. This year's edition introduces new lab sections and places a significant emphasis on Chilean TV productions.
Sanfic Industria encompasses a total of 11 sections, including the innovative Series Lab. Within this lab, up to six Latin American scripted series projects will be carefully selected. Creators and producers of these projects will have the opportunity to receive valuable advice from Sanfic Industria participants, enabling them to enhance their works and expand their international prospects. Additionally, industry representatives will partake in pitching sessions and one-on-one meetings, exclusively dedicated to the chosen projects. Notably, these selected projects will be eligible for prizes and incentives.
Another exciting addition is the Sanfic ODS Lab, designed to promote sustainable development goals among Latin American, Spanish, and Portuguese projects. Producers, directors, and scriptwriters are encouraged to present audiovisual projects that revolve around themes related to sustainable development and have reached an advanced stage of development. The selected projects will receive incentives to further fortify their development and international prospects.
The latest edition of Sanfic Series will concentrate solely on Chilean series or co-productions. These selected series will be showcased in theaters, providing a platform for exposure.
Sanfic Industria features other significant sections, such as the works-in-progress Ibero-American WIP event. This event welcomes up to ten fiction and documentary works and offers a range of incentives, including post-production and distribution services. For sales agents, distributors, post-production companies, programmers, and festival directors, both in-person and online screenings will be available.
The Sanfic-Mórbido Lab, led by Pablo Guisa, CEO of Mexico's Grupo Mórbido and director of the Mórbido Film Festival, will host its fourth edition. This particular lab centers exclusively on Latin American horror and fantastic film projects, which are also eligible for incentives. Six promising projects will be presented to industry representatives, potential co-production partners, and financial backers.
Santiago Lab, another notable section, selects up to 14 fiction and 14 documentary projects in the development phase. These projects will receive guidance from international experts, coupled with pitching training. Additionally, the projects will be presented to international platforms, producers, festival programmers, and markets, all of which will offer incentives.
Series Doc, a distinct category, encompasses six documentary series projects originating from the Montevideo's Doc Series event. This section includes training activities, one-on-one meetings, and private pitches in the presence of influential industry players from around the globe.
Sanfic Net, a completely online segment, focuses on scripted and documentary feature and series projects at various stages of development, including first cut and finished projects. The primary goal is to establish connections with sales agents, producers, festival programmers, markets, and platforms.
Sanfic also presents other essential sections:
- Productoras Lab, which handpicks up to six fiction and/or documentary projects from Latin American female producers in the development phase.
- Sanfic XR, which provides a platform for the exhibition of virtual and augmented reality and immersive works.
- Special Activities, encompassing both face-to-face and online panels, talks, meetings, and industry workshops, all facilitated by prominent international guests.
Sanfic Industria will run from August 20 to 26, coinciding with the Santiago International Film Festival (Sanfic). Applications for participation are accepted from May 24 through June 22.
