Premium Beauty News - How did you come up with the idea of ​​working on the theme of home cosmetics?
Lorraine Denois - Our role as a supplier of cosmetic ingredients is to help our customers decipher trends and offer them formulation concepts and ingredients that meet current and future market demands.
During the pandemic, we have seen a resurgence of interest in the home-made trend , especially in cosmetics with a wellness dimension.
Blend It Yourself, or BIY , consists of letting the consumer mix ingredients made available by brands with precise operating procedures, tips and precautions for use, to create a product that perfectly reflects their own needs. The ideal solution for those wishing to personalize their beauty treatments but lacking the time or knowledge to create their beauty recipes. Also attractive by its image that is both ecological and "transparent", the BlY has therefore become a mode of consumption.
Premium Beauty News - How does Seppic help its customers respond to the Blend it yourself trend?
Lorraine Denois - To respond to this, Seppic launched during in-cosmetics Global in early April 2022 , a duo of formulas called COSMETIC MIXOLOGY . The marketing and innovation teams pooled their expertise to imagine a “Blend it yourself” concept, safe and fun for consumers. With these two frames, we offer our customers a simplified and safer personalization solution for consumers who are not always aware of the risks and constraints of in-house cosmetic formulations.
These two formula bases can be customized with active ingredients that are easy to find at home to meet various applications (face care, hair care, body care). To ensure perfect robustness of the final formulas, the two frames were tested with ten in-house active ingredients with different profiles (viscosity, pH, presence of electrolytes, solubility). Among them: lemon juice for a radiant face mask, coffee grounds for a body scrub or even pomegranate vinegar for an all-in-one hair care.
In addition to responding to a current market trend, our two formulas have been designed taking into account consumer demand for minimalist formulas and their requirements for high naturalness and safety for human health.

Lorraine Denois - COSMETIC MIXOLOGY includes two formulas with different sensory characteristics:
A cream frame to customize : a robust emulsion base combining softness and smoothness. The stability and robustness of the emulsion are ensured by a MONTANOV™ 202 emulsifier and two polymers, SOLAGUM™AX & SEPIMAX ZEN™, to reinforce the resistance of the formula to active ingredients rich in electrolytes. This minimalist formula also contains EMOGREEN™ L15, an emollient for sensory comfort and AQUAXYL™, an essential moisturizing agent based on sugars.
A gel-cream frame to customize : a solid pebble to be rehydrated forming a fresh gel-cream with a light touch. The SOLAGUM™TARA & SEPIMAX ZEN™ pair of polymers forms a fresh, watery gel-cream and reinforces the resistance of the formula to active ingredients rich in electrolytes. Three additional ingredients have been added: EMOGREEN™ L19, an emollient for sensory comfort, SEPIFINE™ BB, a texturizing agent to provide softness and AQUAXYL™, an essential moisturizing agent based on sugars.
These two formulas give our customers the choice of offering the end consumer two different experiences in terms of sensoriality and customization.

Lorraine Denois - This trend towards active consumer participation is becoming more and more digital. Some companies rely on personalized online questionnaires to develop formulas and beauty programs using artificial intelligence, while others allow the individual to take control of the blending process. Applications, connected machines, mini cosmetic formulation laboratories, are multiplying, allowing you to customize your cosmetic care according to your desires or needs.
