At the PAKSAT-MM1 Satellite Application Conference, Shaza Fatima Khawaja, Pakistan's Minister of State for Information Technology and Telecommunication, emphasized the government’s commitment to using space technology for national development.
The PAKSAT-MM1 satellite is poised to significantly enhance the country’s communication infrastructure, with a primary goal of expanding internet access to rural and remote areas. This initiative aims to bridge the digital divide, fostering greater connectivity across the country.
Khawaja also highlighted Pakistan’s advancement by 14 places on the United Nations e-governance development index, making it one of only two Asian nations to move up in digital governance. This reflects substantial progress in incorporating technology into government services.
SUPARCO Chairman Muhammad Yousuf Khan further discussed how PAKSAT-MM1 will contribute to Pakistan’s economic and social development. He encouraged local industries to participate in space programs, fostering collaboration between the government and private sectors to drive technological growth and enhance national progress.
