Shooting Outside Brussels Bar in Etterbeek
A shooting incident on Eudore Pirmez Avenue in the affluent Brussels suburb of Etterbeek has left one person injured. The incident occurred outside the 'Le Calypso' bar, according to local police.
Witnesses reported a significant police presence on nearby Jachtlaan around 11 pm on Monday evening. Emergency medical services, including a MUG emergency medical team and an ambulance, attended the scene and transported the injured individual to the hospital.
The shooting took place near the 'De Jacht' intersection, where Waversesteenweg and Jachtlaan converge. The Brussels public prosecutor's office is currently investigating the incident.
A local resident, who was in a nearby café at the time, recounted that a group of men of Armenian origin were involved in a brawl inside the 'Le Calypso’ bar. "There were people wielding knives and somebody also used a pistol to fire shots," the resident, who wished to remain anonymous, told Brussels media outlet Bruzz. "I don’t know what the precise reason for the brawl was, but there are regularly problems at that bar."
In response to the incident, police have sealed off the bar.
