IS BIRCHER MUESLI HEALTHY?
Bircher muesli originates from Switzerland created in the 1900 by Dr. Maximilian Bircher-Brenner. He created it for its many health benefits for his patients.
High in fiber and whole grains, it's good for gut health and your heart. Oats are a great slow burning energy, that will keep you feeling fuller for longer. The National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES), 2001-2010, found that "oatmeal consumption is associated with better diet quality and lower body mass index in adults"
Adding a mix of delicious fruit, nuts, seeds and yoghurt toppings, will also increase vitamin C, protein and omega 3 fatty acid. Making this recipe not only a great way to start your day but a delicious one too!

INGREDIENTS
As with most foods shared across cultures, todays bircher is some what different to the original. The original version was much more fruit based with less grains. All bircher muesli starts with the same core ingredients of oats, dairy and fruit, from there you can add a whole range of toppings. Dried fruit, grated apple or any fresh fruit, yoghurt, nuts and seeds, chia seeds, peanut butter or other nut butter are all delicious on top. Perfect for a breakfast platter and letting everyone create their own.
We prefer squeezing a fresh orange over the oats, for the added goodness but you can substitute with â…˜ tablespoons of apple or orange juice.
