“Singular Expression†EXHIBITION at the Place du Souvenir Africain: Akaba pays tribute to Abdoulaye Ndoye and Insa Wade
The artistic exhibition of the artist-painter, Abdourahmane Ba, better known as Akeba, which continues at the Place du Souvenir Africain until March 31, is a great window to discover the rich works of 5 painters, scenographers, namely Khalifa Ababacar Dieng, Kiné Aw, Abdoulaye Ndoye, Bathie Sambou and Akeba to pay tribute to Abdoulaye Ndoye and Seydina Insa Wade. The exhibition, made up of at least 70 canvases of different volumes and colors, addresses different themes through several techniques and the creative process attracts the attention of a large audience. Organizing the exhibition in collaboration with the National Theater Company Daniel Sorano, the artist-painter, Akeba, specified that this exhibition project in tribute to Abdoulaye Ndoye and Insa Wade dates back 3 years. “Abdoulaye Ndoye was a professor of Fine Arts for more than thirty years and trained the entire generation of artists here, but very little known. And Seydina Insa Wade inventor of folk. And for 3 years, I have this project because these two people have accompanied my artistic life. They influenced me a lot and that's how I try to pay homage to them,” he explained.
For him, by paying tribute to them through this exhibition, he is also trying to reconcile the different forms of artistic art, that is to say painting as in the context of the tribute paid to Abdoulaye Ndoye, where he involves other local artists who are students of Abdoulaye Ndoye but also bodily expression, that is to say choreography, consistent with the exhibition. He also explained that the key word of this exhibition is also to show that at the local level, it is possible to do very great things, but on two conditions: "that we forget our individual selfishness and that one works for after oneself or for other than oneself. Because, when we take true friendship as an anchor, not the friendship that we decree, we can work miracles. And that is the fundamental message of this exhibition,”
In truth, he says, the exhibition is a “singular expression”. But to be honest, he is not the inventor of such an idea. “Me, I started with a title of plural expression, because I always want to bring together different forms of artistic art in a pictorial exhibition so as not to just have a painting exhibition, but to bring together different forms of artistic art” , he said. *Akeba maintained that this exhibition is also a friendship exhibition. “It's an exhibition of friendship, an exhibition of talent. There are people who came from the United States, from London just for the exhibition", suggested the artist, before adding that it is also an "improbable" meeting between pre-historic graffiti artists and modern graffiti artists.
