Slovakia: Croatia’s Entry Into Schengen Will Also Simplify Travel for Slovak Citizens
The Slovak authorities have said that the entry of Croatia into the Schengen Area will also simplify the movement of citizens of Slovakia as they will no longer be required to undergo border controls when crossing the Croatian-Hungarian and Croatian-Slovenian borders.
According to a recent press release issued by the Ministry of Interior of Slovakia, Croatia remains one of the most popular travel destinations for Slovaks and the same emphasised that they will now be able to reach the seaside country without border delays, SchengenVisaInfo.com reports.
“The extension of the Schengen area also brings advantages for the citizens of Slovakia, for whom Croatia is a popular holiday destination. Controls at Croatia’s border crossings with Hungary and Slovenia have been cancelled since January. Thus, the travel of tourists to this seaside country becomes significantly easier and without delays at the border,” the statement of the Slovak Ministry of Interior reads.
The Minister of Interior of Slovakia, Roman Mikulec, also commented on the matter, saying that Slovak citizens will be able to cross the above-mentioned border points without having to present travel documents.
Nonetheless, Minister Mikulec advised everyone to still keep their travel documents with them despite being able to cross the border freely.
“Croatia’s entry into the Schengen area means for the citizens of Slovakia that they will no longer have to undergo border checks and travel document checks if they cross the Croatian-Hungarian and Croatian-Slovenian borders, meaning that crossing the border will be free,” the statement of Minister Mikulec reads.
