Sony reveals launch date, games for new PS Plus Extra and Deluxe tiers in New Zealand

Kiwi gamers will get access to Sony's new PlayStation Plus subscription tiers on June 23, which includes access to some of the best games for the consoles.
Nick Maguire, a vice president at Sony Interactive Entertainment, revealed further details of the launch in a blog post on Tuesday (NZ time), including a list of first party and third party games available on day one.
"We're focused on adding high quality titles into the PlayStation Plus service for players to enjoy," Macguire wrote.
"I'm pleased to share a selection of the content that will be available for PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium/Deluxe plans."
That includes games like Ghost Of Tsushima Director's Cut, The Last of Us Remastered, Marvel's Spider-Man and Horizon Zero Dawn, which will be available to download.
Third party titles include a number of Ubisoft games, with subscribers to the higher tiers given access to a brand new Ubisoft Plus Classics subscription.
According to Ubisoft, it's a "curated selection of popular games, including top-selling Assassin's Creed Valhalla, The Division, and For Honor".
It will also include South Park: The Stick of Truth, Far Cry 4, Watch Dogs and more, with 27 titles available initially, growing to 50 by the end of the year.
"With Ubisoft+ Classics, we're providing PlayStation players with another way to enjoy Ubisoft games on their consoles," Chris Early, Ubisoft's senior vice president of partnership, said.
"This is just the beginning, as we will ultimately make Ubisoft+ available to PlayStation owners as we continue to build our vision and provide players with more options to access their favourite games, wherever they are."
Deluxe-tier subscribers in New Zealand will also be able to play some classic original PlayStation and PSP games, with a selection of remastered PS4 classics also made available to those paying top dollar.
Ape Escape, Hot Shots Golf and Worms Armageddon are some of the early games being made available, while Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy, Dark Cloud 2, Bioshock Remastered and Lego Harry Potter Collection are amongst the PS4 titles coming to the catalogue.
Sony has previously confirmed the new Extra tier would cost $21.95 per month in Aotearoa, while the Deluxe tier will set users back $24.95 per month.
According to the company, those on the PlayStation Plus Essential tier will continue to get new games at the beginning of each month, but those on higher tiers will get more.
"An additional monthly refresh will occur in the middle of each month with new games across the PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium/Deluxe plans," Macguire wrote.
"The number of games refreshed will vary per month."
Sony's top two tiers are more expensive than Microsoft's comparable Game Pass Ultimate service when paid monthly, which costs $19.95 here. Read More...
