Spain's princess Cristina, husband Ià±aki Urdangarin announce separation
Infanta Cristina of Spain, the sister of Spain’s King Felipe VI, and her husband, Iñaki Urdangarin, have decided to split up “by mutual agreement,” the couple said in a statement to Efe on Monday.
The statement added that the joint commitment towards their four children “remains intact.”
The news came after the publication last week of photos showing former handball player Urdangarin holding hands with another woman.
Infanta Cristina and Urdangarin have been married since 1997.
Urdangarin, former Duke of Palma, was sentenced to five years and 10 months in prison on corruption offenses which he began serving in June 2018.
In June 2020 he moved out of prison after authorities exempted him from spending nights in jail due to his good behavior and compliance with his obligations. Read More…
