AI in Nigeria has announced the upcoming InnovateAI Lagos 2025 conference, marking the second edition of its annual artificial intelligence (AI) event. Scheduled for February 21, 2025, at the Landmark Event Centre in Lagos, the conference aims to bring together stakeholders in the AI sector to offer AI-driven sessions, workshops, and networking opportunities for active participant engagement.
The theme for this year’s conference is “Scaling AI Adoption in Nigeria: Catalysing Cross-Sectoral Innovation and Fostering Inclusive Growth.” The primary goal of InnovateAI Lagos 2025 is to accelerate Nigeria’s journey toward becoming a global AI powerhouse. The conference seeks to ignite innovative solutions and promote sustainable economic growth across various sectors.
Dotun Adeoye, Co-convener of the conference, highlighted the impact of last year’s edition, stating, “InnovateAI Lagos 2024 was a stepping stone. For 2025, we are examining how AI can drive inclusive growth, solve economic challenges, and catalyse innovation across Nigeria.”
Reflecting on the success of the inaugural conference, which attracted over 4,000 participants, Adeoye noted, “The 2024 conference sparked collaborations, inspired innovation, and influenced policies and businesses. It led to measurable progress across industries.” This year’s conference aims to build on that momentum, with a projected attendance of over 6,000 in-person participants, alongside livestreams to 12 AI-in-Nigeria Community Hubs established across the country’s six geopolitical zones.
Ehia Erhaboh, Director of AI in Nigeria, described the conference as a movement rather than just an event. “We are building on last year’s successes to deliver actionable outcomes that shape Nigeria’s future. This year, we delve into transformative AI innovations to solve pressing challenges like unemployment, infrastructure gaps, and financial inclusion.”
The conference will feature a variety of sessions and workshops designed to engage participants in discussions about the role of AI in addressing Nigeria's unique challenges. Key focus areas will include:
- Inclusive Growth: Exploring how AI can be leveraged to promote equitable economic opportunities for all Nigerians.
- Economic Challenges: Identifying ways AI can help tackle pressing economic issues, including unemployment and infrastructure deficits.
