When you think of Japanese science fiction, what comes to mind? Is it everybody's favorite giant lizard, Godzilla, or a particularly memorable anime? Gantz: O (2016)

Based on Hiroya Oku's famous manga series, Gantz: O is a stunning (and stunningly violent) showcase of 3D animation. The premise is simple but intriguing: certain people wake up after dying in a plain room. A black orb on the floor announces the beginning of a mission. What that mission is only becomes clear later, after the room's inhabitants have been teleported to a monster-infested city in Japan.
