The creator of hit TV farce The Thick Of It tonight demands a second referendum to stop a "catastrophic" Brexit.
Armando Iannucci said the British people must "take back control" from Theresa May and her "belched-up mess" of a plan to leave the EU.
Writing for Mirror Online, the political satirist compared the current "crisis" to the Second World War and said the country should have "come together" after the 2016 leave vote.
"Instead, what Theresa May has done is to limit the debate to the agenda of warring factions inside her own party," he wrote.
"Everyone else – all of us – has been shut out."
He added: "I keep getting asked one thing: when is the Brexit 'Thick of It' getting made?
"Unfortunately, I am not laughing. In fact, the situation now is so crazy it is catastrophic.
“Instead of writing a new script, I am urging people to take back control and support the campaign for a People’s Vote on the final Brexit deal."

Iannucci, whose characters include foul-mouthed political spin doctor Malcolm Tucker and hapless minister Nicola Murray, is the latest public figure to back the 'People's Vote' campaign.
The group, backed by a 250,000-strong petition, is demanding a referendum on Theresa May's final deal with Brussels.
Just like football pundit Gary Lineker, who backed the campaign last week, Iannucci said only last year that Remainers lost and should "get over it".
But today Iannucci argued that in the two years since 2016, more young Remainers have become eligible to vote.
In a direct plea, he told them: "Attend the rallies, write to your MP, sign the petition. That way, I hope, we can make some sense out of the mess that has been belched up in front of us."
In a video message he added: "May God have mercy on us all.”
