The Trailer For MIKI, The Most Anticipated Slovak Film Has Been Released
The highly anticipated Slovak film "MIKI" has released its trailer, promising to transport audiences back to the wild 90s, a time marked by power grabs and the erosion of moral boundaries, both in politics and beyond. Directed by Jakub Kroner, the film is set to premiere in theaters on August 15.
The film features a stellar cast, including Milan Ondrík, Dušan Cinkota, Gregor Hološka, and Michal Kubovčík, who portray members of one of the most notorious groups in Slovakia's 90s underworld. Milan Ondrík, who plays the titular character MIKI, shared that while they didn't directly imitate the real-life Mikuláš Černák, they aimed to capture some of his defining traits.
Dušan Cinkota and Gregor Hološka play MIKI's closest friends and partners. Cinkota highlighted the relatability of the era depicted in the film, noting, "It's easy to talk about preparation, because we all know our recent history." He added that he personally experienced this period, having grown up in Banská Bystrica and attended school in Brezno.
Gregor Hološka, who was less familiar with Horehronie, found working on his character particularly engaging. "It's a new and surprising genre, and I'm glad that I could participate and explore a new field of my acting through this film," he said.
"MIKI" showcases a range of talented Slovak actors in new and unexpected roles, as evidenced by the trailer. Dušan Cinkota emphasized the film's crucial message: "The message of this film is very important. Especially that it does not inspire young people to do something similar. So that such parties know that they have a short lifespan and that it does not fit into this world, so that it doesn't happen again."
The film features more than 100 actors, the audience will also see Anna Javorková, Martin Nahálka, Rebeka Poláková and many other actors.
