Thousands to march in Dublin's St Patrick's Day parade
'Mar a cheile sinn - we are one' is the theme of this year's St Patrick's Festival in Dublin.
Organisers say the festival parade will highlight a unifying global culture and reflect values including community, diversity and sustainability.
With 4,000 participants in total, the parade will open with a specially commissioned pageant featuring Macnas, Junk Kouture, the Discovery Gospel Choir and community groups.
There will be seven pageants in all, ten 'show piece performances' as well as the traditional marching bands from across Ireland, the US and Canada
This year's grand marshals are the Republic of Ireland Women's Football team, represented by manager Vera Pauw and players Diane Caldwell and Paula Gorham - who scored a hat-trick on her Ireland Women's Team debut in the country’s first women’s international in May 1973.
Meanwhile, the international guest of honour is actor Patrick Duffy, known for TV series including Dallas, whose grandfather emigrated from Ireland to America in the 1920s. Mr Duffy celebrates his birthday on St Patrick's Day.

He will be just one of thousands of international visitors expected to visit Ireland for the celebrations.
The parade begins at 12pm on Parnell Square and will make its way through the streets of the capital before arriving at Kevin Street from 2pm and can also be seen live on RTÉ 1 television. Read More…
