Tigers in deep trouble despite Soumya's early spark
Despite a solid reply in the first two overs, Bangladesh top-order suffered a miserable collapse during their chase of 206 against South Africa in the two teams' second Super 12 fixture of the T20 World Cup in Sydney today.
Bangladesh are struggling at 66 for five after the end of 10 overs, with Liton Das batting on a run-a-ball 21 with Mosaddek Hossain, new at the crease.
The Tigers couldn't have started better as two sixes from Soumya Sarkar and a boundary from Najmul Hossain Shanto took Bangladesh to 17 for no loss after the first over. However, once Soumya's impactful six-ball 15 ended in the innings' third over bowled by Anrich Nortje, who took out Shanto (9) in the same over, it all went downhill for the Tigers as they slumped to 47 for four at the end of Powerplay.
Mehedi Hasan Miraz (11) was the latest to depart after Afif Hossain (1 off 5) departed as he mistimed a cross-batted shot off a Kagiso Rabada short-pitched delivery to present the easiest of catches at mid off. Read More...
