Two people died on Thursday in a helicopter crash in a rural colony in the city of Yby Yaú, in the department of Concepción, in northern Paraguay.
According to police authorities, the people were identified as Diego Armindo Domínguez Cardozo, 20 years old, of Paraguayan nationality; and Ismael Dikner Dos Santos, of Brazilian nationality, 23 years old.
Both deceased had their declared domicile in Pedro Juan Caballero, department of Amambay, on the border with Brazil.
According to information gathered by the Paraguayan National Police, the plane crash may have been caused by the helicopter crashing into a high-voltage tower belonging to the National Electricity Administration (ANDE).
However, this hypothesis will have to be confirmed or denied by technicians from the National Directorate of Civil Aeronautics (DINAC), who will be in charge of the technical expertise of the crashed aircraft.
The agents involved declared to the media that there is no certain information about the helicopter’s origin or owner, as it did not have a registration number.
This reinforces the hypothesis that people could be involved in illicit activities such as arms or drug trafficking in the border area between Paraguay and Brazil, as a GLOCK pistol with the serial number erased was found among the evidence as mobile phones and tablets. Read More…
