Two Tunisian film projects shortlisted at CIFF's Cairo Film ConnectionÂ
The fictions "Red Path" by Lotfi Achour and "The Seasons of Jannet" by Mehdi Hmili are among a list of 15 Arab film projects selected to participate in the 9th edition of Cairo Film Connection (CFC) within the framework of "Cairo Industry Days" of the Cairo International Film Festival (CIFF), scheduled to be held in its 44th edition, from November 13 to 22, 2022.
"Red Path" is among 8 film projects in post-production and "The Seasons of Jannet" is among 6 projects in development selected.
The festival website announced on Wednesday that the shortlisted film projects are feature-length fiction and documentary films in development and post-production. According to the text of the CIFF press release, they represent Egypt (5), Tunisia (2) with only one project from each of the other selected countries, namely Algeria, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Palestine, Sudan and Yemen.
Tunisian-Algerian programmer Lynda Belkhiria, director of Cairo Film Connection, said the festival seeks through this platform to "consolidate the relationship between the Arab industry and international cinema by offering a selection of promising projects from ten countries in the region."
Cairo Film Connection is an important platform for film discussions, workshops and networking that aims to support young filmmakers in the Arab world and shed light on their films.
