U.S. Bank to Close Doors of Downtown Rice Lake Branch This Spring
U.S. Bank has announced the permanent closure of its downtown Rice Lake branch, effective April 24, 2025. This decision marks the end of an era for the financial institution, which has operated from the southwest corner of Main and Eau Claire streets for 133 years.
In a notice posted on the branch's doors, U.S. Bank communicated the closure and the reasons behind it. Caitlin Hurley, Assistant Vice President and communications manager for U.S. Bank's Midwest Region, explained that the decision reflects changing preferences and behaviors among bank customers. She noted a significant shift towards "digital and mobile banking platforms" and a growing desire for "greater simplicity" in banking services.
The closure of the Rice Lake branch is part of a broader trend in the banking industry, where many financial institutions are adapting to the increasing demand for online services and reducing their physical footprint. Customers are encouraged to utilize U.S. Bank's digital services for their banking needs moving forward.
