Ukraine war latest: Dozens injured by Russia's overnight attacks; Pope Francis on secret peace mission; military expert says 'storm brewing'
Dozens of people have been injured by a barrage of missiles launched overnight; Pope Francis has said the Vatican is on a secret peace mission and will offer help repatriating children deported to Russia; and a military expert has said a "storm is brewing" behind the scenes in Ukraine.
Children among 34 injured in missile explosions
Pavlohrad in the Dnipro region appears to be the worst-hit area in the overnight attacks we reported earlier today.
Its top official, Serhii Lysak, said at least 34 people have been injured, including five children - the youngest being eight years old.
"People have bruises, fractures, cuts and lacerations, contusions, poisoning by combustion products," he wrote on Telegram.
In intensive care are two women, aged 45 and 55, he added.
There is some contention over the exact number of missile strikes in the area, but what the attack shows is that Russia's missile campaign has intensified, following on the heels of a barrage that killed 25 people on Friday.
