Up to 3 Typhoons Expected to Enter Philippines This Month
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) has forecasted the entry of at least two to three typhoons into the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) this month, amidst the threat of a La Niña weather event.
“For July, since we are now at neutral condition, we expect two to three typhoons,” stated PAGASA weather specialist Glaiza Escullar. She further mentioned that up to three typhoons are also anticipated each month from August to October. For November and December, the expectation drops to one to two typhoons.
PAGASA weather specialist Grace Castañeda noted that the easterlies, or warm winds from the Pacific Ocean, will continue to affect the region. “It will bring rains in the Davao region. For the rest of the country, there is a big possibility of isolated rains especially in the afternoon and in the evening,” she explained.
Currently, no typhoons or low-pressure areas have been detected outside PAR. “We have not monitored weather disturbances that could affect our country,” Castañeda said. However, thunderstorms are expected in Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon.
Residents are advised to stay updated with PAGASA's forecasts and take necessary precautions as the typhoon season progresses.
