US lowered alert level for travel to Ecuador
The Government of the United States lowered the category of Ecuador from level 4 to 3 within its travel alerts , the Ministry of Tourism reported in a statement. The move is encouraging, but it means there are still things to improve to make it a "recommended" destination.
At the end of January 2022, the North American country raised the alert from 3 to 4 in consideration of the increase in cases of COVID-19 . However, the Vaccination Plan implemented by the Government made it possible to reduce the cases of this disease in Ecuador, the document highlights.
As of March 14, 2022, 13.6 million people have been fully immunized against the disease. This represents 84.84% of the 16 million inhabitants of the age to be vaccinated. With these results, the US recommendation went from "do not travel" to "reconsider" a trip due to the risks that may occur in a destination.
